The G.W. Zoo in Wynnewood, Oklahoma is the world’s largest private zoo featuring over 187 big cats. The zoo is operated by founder Joe Schreibvogel, a.k.a. Joe Exotic, the self-described “gay, gun-carrying redneck with a mullet.” The Life Exotic was the first feature-length documentary on Joe Exotic (now known as Joseph Maldonado-Passage), released in 2016 prior to his arrest and conviction on charges including a ‘murder for hire’ plot to kill a rival zoo-keeper in 2019.
