As a songwriter, Thompson builds on the legacy of America’s most original storytellers such as Johnny Cash and Woody Guthrie, combining a lurid intellect with something more carnal, bordering on subversive. His deeply spiritual voice and mournful guitar work takes the listener through the backwoods and back alleys of experiences on the fringes. His debut album Chasing Demons, was produced by Hollywood legend Lou Adler (Sam Cooke, The Everly Brothers, Jan & Dean, Johnny Rivers, The Mamas & The Papas, and Carol King), showcasing stories and a style all his own.
